Samit Das – Artistic Intervention with Museum Objects

1 – 14 July, at the Museum Lapidarium

Artist-in-Residence

Samit Das

Artistic Intervention with Museum Objects

Two weeks residency in July by Indian multimedia artist and historian Samit Das based on research of museum’s cultural monuments and archive. Work in progress multiple layers installation for the August’s exhibition ‘Contemporary Art from India’. Das’s creation as architectural installation will be expose in main showing room.

I feel honoured to have an artist in residency at Museo Lapidarium to engage with archaeological fragments and breathe new life into ancient artefacts, forging a tangible connection between the present and the past. Contemporary artists reinterpret these historical remnants by creating artist books, offering fresh perspectives and narratives that transcend time. These books become a bridge, inviting audiences to engage with history in a profoundly personal and imaginative way, ensuring that the echoes of our ancestors continue to inspire and inform the world today.

The ‘Contemporary Art from India’ will open on 10th August 2024. We will update you with more details and work in progress.
